NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY FOR THE JOB ACCESS AND REVERSE COMMUTE PROGRAM (JARC) 5316 AND NEW FREEDOM PROGRAM 5317

 

The Old Colony Planning Council (OCPC) is seeking applications from public agencies, private non-profit corporations, and private providers of public transportation for the Boston Urbanized Area Job Access and Reverse Commute (Section 5316) and the New Freedoms (5317) grant programs that were authorized under the provisions set forth in the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU).  For more information please click here.

USDOT’s TIGER Discretionary Grant Program

Attached is a Federal Register Notice announcing the availability of $1.5 billion in funding for capital investments in surface transportation infrastructure under the USDOT’s TIGER Discretionary Grant Program. The Notice details application requirements as well as evaluation criteria that will be utilized to award funding. American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) - Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funds for  municipalities with less than 35,000 residents

Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is eligible to receive $14,752,000 in Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funds for sub-grants to the 309 municipalities with less than 35,000 residents and for other uses identified in ARRA. Not less than sixty percent (60%) or $8,851,200 of the EECBG funds are required to be sub-granted to the municipalities. In addition, as detailed in Governor Patrick’s March 26, 2009 press release, the 42 municipalities in the Commonwealth with populations greater than 35,000 are eligible to receive $27,400,000 directly from DOE under EECBG.

Recreational Trails Grants Program

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is accepting applications for Recreational Trails Grants postmarked by October 1, 2008. . Please read the information below carefully and download the appropriate documents and forms on this page.

Small Town Road Assistance Program (STRAP) Grant Program

Patrick Administration Announces Expansion of Small Town Road Grants

The Patrick Administration has announced expansion of the Small Town Road Assistance Program (STRAP) grant program for 2008.

 

The STRAP grant program is designed to promote economic development and public safety in smaller communities. The transportation bond bill signed by Governor Patrick added $5 million to the program and expanded the number of communities eligible by raising the population threshold from 3,500 to 7,000. In addition, for the first time grant applications will be evaluated based upon formal criteria regarding the benefits and urgency of projects.

 

The STRAP grant program was established in the 1980's to fund transportation projects that improve public safety and promote economic development in small communities. The additional funding combined with the higher population threshold of 7,000 will make additional communities eligible and increase the number of grants approved, with a maximum grant of $500,000.
